Too much candy, or just Two

We had a great time trick-or-treating on Friday night. The big kids were of course excited. While we were out Emma informed me that she's been trick-or-treating two times. (Maybe a few more than that), but at least she remembers last year. Ali got into it as well. She mastered the sayings, "me too", "trick-or-treat", and "thank you" by the end of the night. Bentley was a trooper; it wasn't until everyone else had either gone in already or were complaining that their feet hurt that he finally agreed it was time to call it quits. The kids came away with way too much candy and were very happy about it.

Well, it was either too much sugar or Ali is turning into a two year old (looking back I think it had something to do with the cold she's coming down with too), but this morning while getting ready for church, she was impossible. She had on a cute black, white, pink and green dress, and she has a cute ribbon and black sparkle shoes to match. However, she insisted that she would not wear her bow. "Tight" /taI/, she would say, and she wouldn't wear her black shoes. She has red sparkle shoes the same style and size (so it wasn't a comfort issue), but she would only put on the red ones. I got the black ones on a few times with distractions, but she would immediately take them off and go for the red. What am I going to do when she's a teenager...

Hip Hip Hurray for Halloween

We carved Bentley's pumpkin on Tuesday night and Emma and Ali's on Thursday. They all wanted scary faces this year. Bentley had a fun Halloween party this afternoon, and now we're heading out to go trick-or-treating... I think I'm as excited as they are. It is so fun to watch them enjoying themselves.

Tan Shoes with Pink Shoelaces

Emma started dance two months ago. Last night was her first performance. Being as she's been hesitant to even dance with her class, I wasn't so sure she'd go through with the performance, but I must not be giving her enough credit. Not only did she dance, but she did great job, was excited to do it, and had fun with the other girls in between performances. (They had to do two shows because of the number of parents.) She was so cute, and really did a great job. She was glowing!
Here she is during the second performance.
And here are the girls... being girls.

Library Party

The library story hour was a Halloween party this week. The girls had fun hearing stories read by a witch, blowing Halloween bubbles, and making ghost puppets.

Christmas Poster Child

Bentley is definitely 7 which means he's at the stage where all his teeth start falling out. He lost his two bottom ones quite a while ago but hasn't lost any since... Until this month that is. Then the bottom left, top right, and top left have all come out in just the last few weeks! The other day we were singing, "All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth". He's so cute, but wouldn't sing for the camera (very unlike him being as he's not one to be shy about performing for others, in fact, he did a duet last week in Sacrament meeting for the primary program). Oh well, maybe later. Anyway, here's the progression of his lost teeth.

I haven't pulled out any of the teeth. He does it himself, so I figure they'll come out when they're good and ready. However, the last one to come out was probably not as ready as the rest. We went to a Halloween carnival where he got some fake teeth. He had them in and was scaring Emma with them when he bumped into her. When he took out the fake teeth he exclaimed, "Where's my tooth?!" It was stuck in the fake set!

Halloween Carnival

We spent Monday night at the UVU kids' carnival. The kids were able to toss rings, do a cake walk, fish at the fish pond, pin the nose on the pumpkin, and more. I think I had as much fun as the kids. They're so cute in their costumes, and it is fun watching them enjoying themselves. In fact, I think I like Halloween more as a mom than I did as a kid.

To potty train or not to potty train

I think that Ali is going to potty train herself. She's been asking to go potty for a while. She does actually go from time to time, and she can't stand to have a wet or poopie diaper. I know I should probably just go for it, but for some reason I'm holding off. Emma started asking (signing) she wanted to go potty at 16 months, and at 18 months we gave it a go. After two days I was tired of cleaning up accidents, so we waited until she was two and then it took about two days to train her. It really isn't that long until Ali turns 2, so I think I'll wait it out and then go full force. Am I just chicken or does that seem to make the most sense? Oh well, either way I'm sure she'll be going in the potty before too long. Until then I'll just try to keep her diaper on her:)

Halloween Preparation

On Saturday we traveled to Park City with one of the main purposes being Halloween preparation. I had considered making the kids' costumes this year, but decided against it... time being the main reason, so we didn't have anything except some fairy wings for Emma and a pirate excesories set for Bentley. Well, it was a good day at TheChildren'sPlace, because we found everthing we needed there. Bentley wanted to a be a pirate, Emma a fairy, and Ali, well, she's not hard to please. They had just what we were looking for and more (trick-or-treat bags and wands to match). The best part was that costumes were half off and I had a 15% off coupon plus I get an extra 10% off this year for having their card. You just can't beat that! I've always thought it would be so fun to make the kids' costumes... but I think I've reconsidered. There's no way I could have made what we were able to buy for the same price let a lone the time... I think I'll cross sewing costumes off of my list of things to do in this lifetime.
