Spider Bites

Yea, this is crazy. Thursday night I was working late from home and I noticed several (six) bites that I thought were mosquito on my left foot and one on my right. I’m not quite sure when I got them. I did go swimming at the SSAFC earlier that evening with Emma. I’m not sure how a spider would be able to bite me that many times without me noticing. Anyway on Friday they itched quite badly during the day and I only made it worse by scratching aggressively the only one not covered by my shoe. By the end of the day a small blister had formed. By this time I stop scratching and started applying large quantities of Caladryl to my foot. Didn’t help much. By Saturday morning the small blister had turned into a very large yellow blister. The blister broke with the help of a sewing needle.

Another blister was forming on my pinky toe. By 9:00 Saturday night my foot was a real ugly mess. They don’t have an “Insta-Care” in Heber so John just said to go to the ER and they would take care of it. I went to the ER and had to wait nearly two hours before anyone could look at it. The video Ipod really came in handy but didn’t help much because; well I tend to worry more than the average person and couldn’t focus on it. The Doctor was concerned. It was bad. Both the big bites (lesions) had to be cleaned out. I had already started to develop Necrosis (dead skin) and it had to be scraped off. I discovered a new level of pain. After that the needle for the IV of antibiotics didn’t hurt very much. I get to go back for 3 more day of antibiotics plus as a bonus I get to keep the IV in my hand for the entire time. I glad it was me and not one of the kids.
